The app built for UK tradespeople. Log jobs, track time and materials, send invoices — and file your HMRC Making Tax Digital returns in one tap. No accountant needed.
✓ You're on the list. We'll be in touch.
HMRC has written to 864,000 self-employed people. From April 2026, if you earn over £50k self-employed, you legally need software to file tax quarterly.
Spreadsheets won't cut it. And paying for Xero and a job management app is £700+ a year. Graft does both for £6.99 a month.
Everything a sole trader actually does in a day — quotes, invoices, time, expenses, tax. No more bouncing between four apps and a notebook.
Log a job in seconds. Track time on site. Photograph the work as you go. Add materials when you buy them. Notes for the client when you remember.
Send a quote from the van. Convert it to an invoice the second the job's done. Branded PDF, payment link built in, chase reminders automated.
Point your camera at any receipt and Graft reads it automatically. Vendor, amount, VAT, date — all logged against the right job. Every expense recorded without typing a thing.
Graft connects directly to HMRC's API. Every quarter, your figures are calculated, ready to review, and submitted in a single tap. No spreadsheets. No accountant. No scrambling in January.
Sage is great accounting software — for accountants. It'll handle MTD, but it can't log a job, send a quote from the van, track time on site, or tell you who still owes you money. Graft is the only app that does all of it.

Built by a developer.
Tested by a bricklayer.
— Sam Barrett, founder · & his dad
My dad's been laying bricks for 30 years. When the HMRC Making Tax Digital letter landed on his doormat, he had no idea what to do.
So I built him something. Graft is the app I wish existed when I watched him stress over a shoebox full of receipts every January — simple enough to use on site with muddy hands, powerful enough to keep HMRC off your back.
If your dad's anything like mine, he'll love it.
One plan. No tiers. No "starter" / "pro" / "enterprise" maze. Everything below, every month.
Job management, quoting, invoicing, expenses, mileage, MTD submissions. Everything.

HMRC is requiring all sole traders earning £50k+ to file tax quarterly using approved software from April 2026. The threshold drops to £30k from April 2027 and £20k from April 2028. Graft is built to be MTD-ready and is on the path to HMRC recognition.
Sage Free handles MTD submissions only. It can't log jobs, send quotes from site, track time, or scan receipts. You'd still need three other tools. Graft replaces all of it for £6.99/month.
For basic sole trader MTD compliance — no. Graft connects directly to HMRC and files on your behalf. Complex situations (multiple income streams, property, partnerships) are still worth an accountant's eye.
Any UK sole trader: bricklayers, plumbers, electricians, roofers, plasterers, carpenters, painters, landscapers, tilers, groundworkers, decorators. If you swing tools, send quotes, and have to file tax — Graft's for you.
